Sri Lanka visa update: New online visa system introduced by Sri Lankan government
In a recent update, the Sri Lankan Department of Immigration and Emigration has launched a new visa process and online application portal, effective immediately. It is being considered a significant leap forward in visa services.
As per a press release issued, this initiative, as detailed in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2360/24 dated November 27, 2023, brings in a more streamlined approach with updated requirements, fees, and validity periods for visas in Sri Lanka.
In collaboration with IVS Global Institute and GBS Technology Service, the department is launching the e-visa system, which replaces the current ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) method. This transition is aimed at improving efficiency and convenience for travellers.
Through this platform, the department is dedicated to providing a swift and efficient visa application process, catering to the needs of tourists and investors alike.
