Devka Seafront: new tourism hub in Daman; tent city in offing
Marking a significant milestone in the development of the coastal region, the Devka Seafront in Daman is all set to become a hub for tourism featuring leisure and recreation activities.Built at a cost of around INR 165 crore, the 5.45 km Seafront has been transformed into a world-class tourist destination, with smart lighting, parking facilities, gardens, food stalls, recreational areas and more. This makes it one-of-a-kind coastal promenade in the country. Once fully completed, the seafront is expected to boost the local economy and attract more tourists to the region, making it a bright spot for coastal tourism, as also mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Furthermore, provision of luxury tent accommodation will also be made available in future as a new tent city is also emerging in the beach area. PM Modi recently underlined the potential of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli to emerge as major tourist destinations. He said that the two Seafronts under the name of Nani Daman Marine Overview (NaMo) Path will give a push to tourism.
“I am seeing Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli as a bright spot of coastal tourism,” Modi stated.
Other projects like Khanvel Riverfront, Dudhani Jetty, eco-resort and Coastal Promenade will also increase the attractiveness for tourists once completed.
Overall, all these projects are expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, providing employment opportunities for the local population and boosting the tourism industry in the region.
In addition, the various development projects worth more than INR 4850 crore were also dedicated in Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli which included 96 projects aiming at beautification, strengthening and widening of various roads, shopping complexes in the region among others.
These projects, said Modi, will improve ease of living, tourism, transportation and business in the U/T.
