Morocco Turns Tourism Growth Into Stronger Earnings as Africa’s 2026 Travel Boom Builds.

Morocco makes more revenue out of the growth due to the fact that the country’s statistics demonstrate that travel receipts increase faster than tourist arrivals. The first-quarter statistics show that Morocco had 4.3 million tourists, which represents an increase of 7% compared to the year before, while receipts increased by 24%, making it 31 billion dirhams. This is why the headline has justification: even when the number of tourists increases by a lesser rate, it still allows creating greater economic value. Nevertheless, the statistics cannot provide the information on whether it was caused by the change in length of stay, prices or spending patterns of tourists. This problem is relevant to other African destinations. It is possible to ask the question of whether it will be possible to transform more visits into the sustainable income and job creation.

The first-half figures give Africa a strong start to the year. While international travel grew only slightly worldwide, the continent recorded faster growth in arrivals. That result places Africa among the strongest-performing regions. But arrivals count visitors. They do not show how much those visitors spend, how long they stay or where the money goes.
