Europe Officially Declares Croatia the Ultimate Must-Visit Travel Destination

Croatia has officially been named the number one travel destination in Europe this year, following votes from over one million travelers worldwide. The prestigious recognition was announced at ITB Berlin, one of the world’s leading travel trade fairs, where Croatian tourism officials received the award from European Best Destinations (EBD) director Maximilien Lejeune.

Croatia Outshines Spain, Austria, Italy, and Greece
In a competitive race for Europe’s top destination, Croatia secured the most votes, surpassing Spain (2nd place), Austria (3rd place), Italy (4th place), and Greece (5th place). This accolade cements Croatia’s reputation as a must-visit location, known for its breathtaking coastline, historic towns, and vibrant culture.

Tourism officials and industry leaders celebrated this milestone at ITB Berlin 2025, where Croatia is making a powerful presence. With a dedicated stand showcasing 25 co-exhibitors, including representatives from Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, and Istria, the country aims to strengthen its tourism partnerships and promote its unique offerings to the world.

Strong Croatian Presence at ITB Berlin 2025
As one of the key exhibitors at ITB Berlin 2025, Croatia is putting its best foot forward with a high-profile delegation led by:

Tonči Glavina, Croatian Minister of Tourism
Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB)
Romeo Draghicchio and Nera Miličić, CNTB representatives from Frankfurt and Munich
The team is actively engaging in high-level meetings with major tourism stakeholders, including:
German Association of Travel Agencies (DRV)
Eurowings
TUI
Jet2
ADAC (Germany’s leading automobile club with travel services)
These discussions focus on business expectations, booking trends, and upcoming tourism forecasts for 2025. Gordan Bakota, Croatian Ambassador to Germany, also visited the stand to show his support for this vital initiative.

With Croatia taking the crown as Europe’s top travel destination, the country is set for another record-breaking year in tourism. Thanks to rising demand from German travelers, expanded airline routes, and Croatia’s growing reputation as a luxury and adventure hotspot, industry leaders are optimistic about 2025 being one of Croatia’s best tourism seasons yet.

For travelers looking to explore the beauty of Dubrovnik, the pristine beaches of Hvar, the medieval charm of Zagreb, or the adventure landscapes of Plitvice Lakes, Croatia is ready to welcome the world!
