In a first, Srinagar hosts Formula-4 race show along the scenic Dal Lake
Srinagar witnessed a historic moment as it hosted its inaugural Formula 4 car racing demonstration event on Sunday. The race held against the stunning backdrop of the world-renowned Dal Lake was action-packed to say the least.
If reports are to go by, the event captivated locals and motorsport enthusiasts alike as professional Formula 4 drivers showcased their skills with exhilarating stunts.
The sleek racing cars thundered along a 1.7 km track, stretching from Lalit Ghat on the banks of Dal Lake to Nehru Park in the heart of the city. Along the picturesque Boulevard road, nestled at the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range, hundreds of enthusiastic youths gathered to witness the spectacle.
The event, a first of its kind in the Kashmir Valley, was organised by the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India, affiliated with the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It aimed not only to promote tourism in the region, but also to inspire local youth to explore motorsports as a viable career path.
With regard to this, Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight, and added that such events have potential to showcase the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir while fostering the growth of motorsports in India. He stated, "This is very heartening to see. It will help further showcase the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir. India offers great opportunities for motorsports to thrive, and Srinagar is among the top places where it can happen!"
