Sikkim Govt. starts issuing permits for Nathula and Lake Tsomgo visits
As per the latest development, the Sikkim government has already initiated the process of granting permits to tourists for visiting Nathula and Tsomgo Lake.As per a tourism department official, while lower regions near the Teesta River have been impacted by flash floods, the higher-altitude areas remain accessible to tourists.
The official further added that the permit issuance for tourists to explore Tsomgo Lake and Nathula commenced recently, while popular tourist destinations like Pelling, Namchi, Ravangla, Dara, South Sikkim are also open to visitors.
The official also recommended tourists to take the Lava-Kalimpong route to enter Sikkim since the NH10 connecting Siliguri in West Bengal to Gangtok is still obstructed on the West Bengal side. State PWD officials anticipate that NH10 will be reopened within a week, but it is worth noting that NH 10 from Singtam to Rangpo Border is currently operational.
Additionally, on Tuesday night, areas such as Tsomgo Lake and Kupup experienced snowfall.
