Pahalgam to soon get cable cars on lines similar to Gulmarg gondola

In line with the success of the Gondola project in Gulmarg, Pahalgam will also soon get cable cars. As per the reports, the Cable Car Corporation has also conducted a survey in Pahalgam, and will soon be submitting a report that will be forwarded for government approval.
The Corporation, however, added that no trees should be cut for the purpose and that they are hopeful of getting clearance from the stakeholders. Authorities aim to set a rope way in the picturesque Pahalgam tourist resort in Anantnag, which is also famed for its breathtaking landscape, high altitude lakes, mountain trails, pine forests, and glaciers.
Reports add that the Corporation had surveyed at least four probable sites for the project, and will likely go ahead with the route from Yatri Niwas, a property of the J&K Tourism Development Corporation, to Bai Saran, which is a meadow on a hilltop surrounded by snow-clad mountains and pine forests.
Referring to this, Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, MD J&K Cable Car Corporation, added that they are trying to set up a gondola lift in Pahalgam on the pattern of Gulmarg, for which a survey has been conducted and will most likely, come along the Yatri Niwas-Bai Saran stretch.
The aerial length of the route will be just 2 km , Zargar added. Pahalgam, also known as the Valley of Shepherds, is around 90 km from Srinagar and is one of the most picturesque tourist resorts of Kashmir valley in Anantnag district, set amid evergreen forests. This place also serves as a base camp for the Amarnath cave shrine located at a height of 12,775 ft.
Further, the Bai Saran’s elevation is roughly the same as the first phase of Gulmarg gondola in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, which takes visitors around 2.5 km to Kongdori at a height of 8,530 ft.
