Himachal Pradesh to develop Kangra as state’s tourism capital
It’s no surprise that Himachal Pradesh is one of the most popular states in India in terms of tourism. With places like Spiti, Dharamsala, Kinnaur, Shimla, and Manali to name a few, a tourist never runs out of options when in Himachal Pradesh.At present, the state government is working towards developing the state as an “all-season” tourism destination. More importantly, the state government is working towards developing Kangra District as the state’s Tourism Capital.
Kangra is one of the most loved districts in Himachal Pradesh, mainly because of a large number of tourist attractions that it has to offer. Starting from the Dhauladhar mountain range in Dharamsala to the verdant tea estates in Palampur and the forts and temples spread across the district, Kangra has plenty of places to visit and things to do.
A lot of popular cuisines and handicrafts come from Kangra district. Local delicacies like siddu, dham, madra, tudkiya bhath, and handicrafts like Kangra paintings, wood carvings, Tibetan thangkas, pottery, metal crafts and handloom to name a few, make Kangra district one of the top destinations in North India.
Some of the popular tourist towns in Kangra district are Dharamshala, McLeod Ganj, Palampur, Bir-Billing, Kangra town, Andretta and Chamunda Devi. Very soon, tourists will be able to ride the Chamunda ropeway from Adi Himani Temple, located in Chander Bhan.
All of these places have their own special and very unique specialities. For instance, the village of Andretta might seem unremarkable at first, given its small size, but visitors flock to this tiny village for their unique pottery-making. Also, Bir-Biling is every adventure lover’s dream destination. It is not called the Paragliding Capital of India for nothing.
Kangra is a popular tourist destination that offers a mix of history, culture, spirituality, and natural beauty, making it a must-visit place for anyone visiting Himachal Pradesh or northern India.
