Coming soon: Mega adventure tourism trails in Indi

There’s a lot to look forward to this year in terms of adventure tourism in India. The Ministry of Tourism has recently shared that India will have two mega adventure trails in 2023 – the Ganga Trail and Northwestern Himalayan Trail.
As the name suggests, these two mega tourism trails will be launched in the Himalayas and the Gangetic region. There are a number of adventure trails in the pipeline such as Narmada Trail from Amarkantak to Arabian Sea, Kaveri River Trail, West Coast Trail from Kutch to Kanyakumari, and East Coast Trail from West Bengal to Kanyakumari to name a few. But for now, efforts will be made to develop the two aforementioned trails to start with.
As per reports, all these adventure tourism activities will be developed keeping in mind the sustainability and the role it’s going to play in bringing opportunities for livelihood for communities residing in these regions.
For instance, when it comes to Himalayan region, any tourism activity must be beneficial for the local and indigenous communities residing in the mountainous regions (example Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh). For scuba diving sites, any tourism activities should be done keeping in mind the health of the marine ecosystem.
Adventure tourism in India offers a unique and thrilling way to explore the country's natural beauty and diverse culture. It won’t be wrong to state that India has a pretty big adventure tourism scene. With such varied geographical features, there is no dearth of adventurous destinations in India. From mangroves and mountains to rivers and rain forests, India has them all.
