Bengaluru all set to get a second Cubbon Park
If all goes well, Bangalore is all set to get a second Cubbon Park. As per the latest news reports, Revenue Minister R. Ashok announced that the government will develop the second Cubbon Park near Yelahanka on 184 acres of land.If reports are to go by, a Cubbon park-like green environment will come up on land spread across the villages of Sondappanahalli, Bettahalasur, and Kadiganahalli near Yelahanka. The park will also feature an amphitheatre, a lake, and other facilities.
An official in the know-how stated that the land has been handed over to the Horticulture Department, and that the park will be named after Bengaluru founder Kempe Gowda.
The land is situated around 10 km from the BIAL and close to Kempegowda birthplace Avati and Yelahanka, which he ruled.
Referring to this, Horticulture Minister Munirathna stated that the new park is located along the Doddaballapur-Hindupur highway which will be developed by the department.
If reports are to go by, the government is already developing a multi-purpose Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park on 320 acres at Jarakabande in Yelahanka, for which ₹100 crore has been earmarked.
Further, the Bangalore state government has proposed to install a 100 ft statue of Kempe Gowda using natural rocks at Bettahalasur. The state government plans to make a stone monolith of Kempe Gowda that will be bigger than the Gomateshwara of Shravanabelagola.
