Uttarakhand all set to open 15 less-explored jungle trails for trekkers from April
Uttarakhand will soon open less-explored jungle trails for trekkers and visitors in the region. From least explored trek trails in dense coniferous forests of Chakrata to geological excursion at 1000 ft in Kharamba, and stargazing in Molta, the Uttarakhand forest department is all geared up to offer unique trekking experiences to travelers this summer.Referring to this, forest conservator of Yamuna circle Vinay Bhargav stated that they have identified 15 different sites in the states, where people can trek. He added that the visitors will be able to choose the trails, depending on their choice and vacation duration. He further added that one can opt for routes that involve trekking 2.5 km in a day to 65 km-long treks lasting a week, wherein trekkers will also get to stay in home stays and nature camps.
Another official in the know-how added that of the 15 identified trails, nine are seldom visited by outsiders and have no human habitation, and are situated in very dense forests. Visitors can also experience staying in British-era forest rest houses along these trails.
Some of these sites will include little-known places like Naada, Konain, Kudog, Daragad, Budher, Jakh, Deoban, Mundali, Kahtiyan and Kanasar. The process will start with a 65-km-long trail, named Thadiyar March, which was developed by the British to educate young forest service probationers about forestry nuances; it will be modified and opened to the public, tentatively from April. The trail will take you through picturesque hills with elevations ranging from 542 m to 3,067m in the Chakrata area.
