Seychelles, Mauritius, Cape Verde and Botswana have secured places ahead of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada in the Global Lifestyle Rankings 2026, highlighting Africa’s growing relocation appeal. The assessment brings renewed attention to international travel, tourism infrastructure, residence permits, taxation and long-stay opportunities. The findings also demonstrate how destinations beyond traditional Western markets can attract globally mobile professionals, investors and travellers. Supporting evidence from the World Bank and national immigration authorities provides important context for this comparison. Together, the rankings and official information offer a wider understanding of how African destinations compete for international residents and tourism-related investment.The Nomad Lifestyle Index 2026, produced by international advisory firm Nomad Capitalist, evaluates 63 destinations across five equally weighted categories. Seychelles leads the African countries in 12th position, followed by Mauritius in 17th, Cape Verde in 36th and Botswana in 44th. The UK ranks 47th, Canada 48th and the US 54th. The index focuses on internationally mobile individuals rather than the general population.
