Spain & Allies Fuel Milan Bergamo’s Summer Boom with 4M+ Travelers
Robust Growth in Non-Schengen MarketsThe airport witnessed strong growth in its non-Schengen markets, particularly with a 1.7% year-on-year increase, bringing the total to 1.05 million passengers. This surge was largely attributed to the addition of new routes and the expansion of services to existing destinations. Milan Bergamo’s position as a key gateway to non-Schengen destinations has been reinforced by enhanced connectivity, providing travelers with more options to explore international locations.
Egypt: A Star Performer
Among the standout performers this summer was Egypt, where passenger traffic increased by an impressive 36%, reaching 82,889 travelers. This significant growth was fueled by the arrival of Air Cairo, which launched new routes from Sharm El Sheikh to Milan Bergamo. Additionally, the continued strong performance of other carriers on routes to Egypt contributed to the overall rise in traffic. Egypt’s appeal as a popular leisure destination, coupled with competitive flight options, ensured that Milan Bergamo became a key hub for tourists heading to this North African destination.
