Amarnath Yatra resumes from Pahalgam route

However, now the situation has improved, and convoys of Amarnath pilgrims from Jammu are now being allowed to move toward Kashmir valley, whereas vehicular traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway also resumed recently after blockades caused by mudslides and shooting stones in Ramban district.
Reports stated that the Amarnath Yatra has resumed from the traditional Pahalgam route, whereas it still remains suspended through Baltal route. Referring to the same, a traffic advisory has also been released that stated Jammu-Srinagar highway is through, whereas many stretches are still single-way open for traffic and intermittent shooting stones are still going on.
Officials in the know-how added that stranded vehicles were being cleared and people have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirmation from traffic police.
Reports state that the important iron tunnel passage set up in the most vulnerable stretch of the highway was also damaged due to intense shooting stones recently.
As per the officials, shooting stones and mudslides struck the highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, at Mehaar, Cafeteria Moore, and Pantiyal areas. Work is going on in full swing to clear the highway and ensure two-way traffic on it, officials added.
