Gulmarg unveils new Army Museum celebrating heritage of Kashmir

Gulmarg, one of the most gorgeous towns in Kashmir, has a new tourist attraction. The new Gulmarg Army Museum, underlining the heritage of Kashmir valley was inaugurated by Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, GOC-in-C of the Northern Command. The Gul-A-Seum at Gulmarg aims to highlight Kashmir’s rich history and the significant role of the Indian Army in the region’s security and development.
The new Gulmarg Army Museum, designed and built by the Dagger Division and its Himalayan Brigade, was opened in the presence of senior military and civil dignitaries.
This state-of-the-art facility honors the bravery, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. It offers exhibits on the Army’s contributions during wartime, its role in national development, and the vibrant cultural heritage of Jammu & Kashmir.
Col VN Thapar (Rtd) remarked to ANI, "This museum is more than just a building or a tourist attraction; it stands as a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in various wars fought by the country."
He also noted that the museum reflects the historical conflicts in Kashmir with Pakistan and China, serving as a testament to the valor of soldiers and the stories of their battles.
Gulmarg in the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas is a prime tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir. The town is noted for its stunning natural beauty and is also known as the Meadow of Flowers. The place offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks and lush green meadows.
